ENGLISH BELOW:

Drage koleginice i kolege,

Trenutno smo u proceduri promene imena Facebook stranice.

Dear friends and colleagues,

We would like to inform you that we have changed our organisation‘s name from Gayten-LGBT, Center for promotion of LGBTIQ human rights to Geten, Center for LGBTIQA People's Rights.

We have decided to change our organisation's name to Geten, in order to better reflect our politics, principles and activism. We feel that the new name reflects more aptly the fact that we are an all-inclusive organisation, respecting and incorporating the principle of intersectionality in our work, and the issues surrounding gender identity, not only sexual orientation (as perhaps the central word “gay” in Gayten would wrongly have suggested).

The updated name comes from the great Ursula Le Guin's novel the Left hand of Darkness, and a fictional planet of androgynous beings, a land without wars and conflict called Gethen (Serbian transcription Geten). This idea of the novel questions the concept of gender, gender binary and gender roles marvelously, and is reflected in our general politics as well.In 2016, through correspondence with the author herself and after she had learned about our activism, we obtained an official blessing from Ursula Le Guin to use the name freely.

We are currently waiting for Facebook to confirm our Facebook page name change, so we apologize for the confusion.

We are looking forward to continuing our successful cooperation with you under our new name.
